Data Center Migration
Data Center migration for The Financial Services Arm of A Large Auto Manufacturer
The Situation: The financial services arm of a large auto manufacturer needed to relocate their production data center to Dallas, Texas. This center supported more than 250 strategically critical applications used in running the company. Only five professionals from the original staff were relocating. This necessitated a full-scale staffing initiative to outfit the data center and its operating staff, without disrupting service. In addition to the relocation, the company decided to eliminate an outsourcing partner the staff had previously been dependent upon. The outsourcing partner would be onsite during the reduction of its staff, creating a politically sensitive situation.
The Response: The InSource Group became the primary vendor supplying consulting, contract-to-hire and full-time placements. The InSource Group launched an extensive search, national in scope, to provide project managers, business analysts, system administrators and technical writers with expertise in HP Superdome, HP Openview, Oracle DBA, SQL Server DBA, Weblogic, Sun UNIX, and Windows NT.
The Result: The InSource Group filled 24 critical positions, enabling the company to successfully build their Dallas-based data center with a completely transparent transfer of operations.
Ongoing: The InSource Group continues to work for this company on an active directory migration for over 8,000 geographically disparate locations and a Windows Applications Refresh Project.
