Volunteers from The InSource Group and the Entrepreneurs for North Texas (EFNT) rolled up their sleeves early on the morning of May 4 to help the Texas Trees Foundation (TTF). As a new member in EFNT, this was The InSource Group’s first Plug ‘N Play event to assist with launching TTF’s initiative to plant three million trees in North Texas over the next 10 years.
Our enthusiastic team of 51 combined volunteers accomplished all of the following in just over two hours:
• Pulling up 1,700 T-Posts (see some of the action here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5hqiMoZZSw&feature=player_profilepage)
• Mulching 15 cubic yards
• Pruning over 1,500 trees
• Weeding six acres of land
Getting away from our desks and out into the community let us contribute to a good cause and also get to know other philanthropic-minded companies. It gave us a real sense of accomplishment, and instilled in us a stronger desire to work hard both inside and outside of the office.
This was a beautiful day, and through the blood, sweat, and mud we not only helped a great organization like the TTF, but also fostered stronger relationships within the InSource team. As in life, our success depends on relationships, and by strengthening our bonds with the community and each other, we create a more firm foundation for our growth. We’re still laughing about this day and how much fun it was…and how out of shape we are!
