On Wednesday, September 11, 2013, The InSource Group proudly participated in Entrepreneurs for North Texas (EFNT) Freedom Day alongside over 500 volunteers from 60 companies. This year our team’s task entailed renovating the conference room at William H. Atwell Middle School in Oak Cliff. With a little elbow grease, several volunteers, and donations from employees, we successfully upgraded the archaic television, turned the three outdated chalkboards into whiteboards and a bulletin board, put in carpet flooring, and sanded and stained all woodwork including bookshelves, cabinets, and trim. The transformation from grim and run-down to modern and inspiring was truly amazing. A few of our volunteers were chosen to chaperon the middle school children on their field trip to the Perot Museum. One of the InSource Chaperone’s, Account Manager Roane Underwood experienced firsthand the impact of Freedom Day when one of the children told her “DO YOU KNOW, there are like 500 people at our school right now painting it and cleaning it up?!?” The child went on and on about all the cars she had seen in the parking lot and her excitement about how much people cared about HER school! Simple words like these make the countless hours fundraising, planning, and working all worthwhile! The InSource Group is thankful to have employees committed to serving the community and thankful to have the opportunity to do so. This was The InSource Group’s third year to participate in Freedom Day.
About Freedom Day
Every year, EFNT strives to honor the lives horrifically lost and changed as a result of the terrorist acts in 2001. On the 12th anniversary of the tragic events, employees from 60 Member Companies and over 500 volunteers once again rolled up their sleeves to transform the images of tragedy into triumph. Since Freedom Day’s inception, EFNT Member Companies have provided more than 21,000 hours of service to important nonprofits in the Dallas community.
