Senior Software Quality Automation Engineer
As Senior Software Quality Automation Engineer you will do software development engineering & test (SDET) technical work. You will be responsible for creating, implementing and supporting productivity tools for internal and external web applications, web services, Windows clients, and database validations.
This position will develop, document and support large-scale, maintainable automation frameworks and scripts using a variety of open source, vendor-provided, and in-house tools and languages to support product quality initiatives in an Agile-focused software development organization.
Also to be developed are “automation assist” scripts and tools, some of which may be disposable, that help advance the quality initiatives in non-traditional ways.
The lead works closely with the automation manager to evolve the tools experience for both the automation team and the user teams.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a broad knowledge of emergent trends in software development platforms, tools, methodologies, and their underlying principles
- Advanced understanding of Software Quality Assurance (SQA) concepts and practices to continually provide tools for the software delivery teams
- These need to be industry standard QA best practices /theory, not ideas specific to company x
- Prefer ISTQB or QAI training and certifications
- Build and implement a scalable, reusable automation framework
- Work with team to set appropriate standards for usage of the framework and trains quality assurance personnel to enable them to use it
- Work closely with quality assurance team to help them develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts, using the provided automation framework, writing test scripts when applicable
- Lead automation team members (both onshore and offshore) on day-to-day operations
- Train and mentor local and remote team members on automation processes and best practices
Qualifications
- 5+ years software development experience
- 4+ years test automation framework development experience
- Hands-on experience with .NET/Windows and Web-based application or script programming
- Programming experience in C# or Java, Javascript, or Jscript and a scripting language, preferably Python
- Hands-on experience with web testing tools (preferably TestComplete or Selenium WebDriver) and relational databases at the programming level
- Experience creating, automating, or programmatically testing web services for REST and SOAP, using an industry accepted services testing tool such as SOAPUI and using load testing tools preferred
- Solid understanding of automation practices and architecture for scalability and maintainability
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- High School diploma
- Travel and work setting: This is a fully remote role with no travel and no requirement of working from an office or client site
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related concentration
- Automated Testing Continuous Integration and Test Driven Development (TDD)
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to mentor team members and educate others on automation principles
- Experienced with Web/Windows based N-tier database applications
- Healthcare domain knowledge desirable, specifically in the areas of Patient Accounting, HIM, Revenue Cycle and IT integration #DCE
